A hearing that was scheduled for Thursday morning in Lincoln County Superior has been postponed, pending the outcome of discussions between Wiscasset school teachers and administrators.
Superintendent Jay McIntyre said the school committee had asked a judge to prevent teachers from working to rule, a practice that would have eliminated some of the day-to-day services teachers provide, such as after-school parent meetings and extra-curricular activities.
McIntyre said the sides have been given until the end of the month to work out an agreement that would remove the threat of work to rule from stalled contract negotiations.
Teachers have grown increasingly frustrated with the district because they have been unable to come to terms on a new contract. Their previous contract expired nearly two years ago.
