Sen. Barack Obama won many of Maine's largest communities in Sunday's caucuses while Sen. Hillary Clinton fared well in mill towns and some rural areas, according to town-by-town results released Monday by the Maine Democratic Party.

Obama swept the Maine caucuses with more than 59 percent of the vote, in part by beating Clinton in Augusta, Auburn, Bangor, Belfast, Brunswick, Portland, South Portland, Waterville, Westbrook and several other large communities.

Clinton, whose win column included Lewiston, Biddeford and Sanford, found much of her support in rural areas and in mill towns, including East Millinocket, Jay, Livermore Falls, Madison, Mexico, Rumford and Sanford, according to the list.

The complete list is available at the Maine Democratic Party web site.
