Organization sued by former employee

WATERVILLE — A company that provides support services to adults with intellectual disabilities is being sued by a former employee who claims the company failed to accommodate his disability.

Richard R. Hood, of Stetson, claims Skills, Inc. fired him after he requested an accommodation for a physical disability and also complained about unsafe conditions which endangered the health and safety of clients and employees, according to a suit filed in Somerset County Superior Court this month.

Monday, Tom Davis, chief executive officer of Skills, which has administrative offices in St Albans and in Waterville, said that he “vigorously disagrees” with the facts of the case as presented in the lawsuit.

“We think we have an employment issue,” said Davis. “It is an issue about an employee’s behavior at work not about any disability.”
