SKOWHEGAN — Friends of the Skowhegan Free Public Library are celebrating 10 years of service to with a public celebration Thursday night.
An open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to honor the work of the original board that established Friends of the Library.
“People can enjoy some light refreshments, take out a book or just bask in the ambiance — maybe join the FOL,” said Vice President Mary Stewart.
Stewart said the Friends were organized to support anything the library might need for special programs and items not covered by the regular budget, such as shelving.
Jim and Corilla Hastings were instrumental in the early organization work, according to Stewart.
