WATERVILLE — Police are investigating a burglary at a College Avenue business last weekend in which a delivery truck was stolen, loaded with televisions and furniture, driven to Massachusetts and abandoned.
Detective Alan Perkins said he believes the burglary at R.E. Drapeau Appliance & Furniture is related to one which occurred in November at McCormack Building Supply in Winslow, as well as a burglary that occurred at Bell Simon Co. on Airport Road a couple of weeks later.
In both those incidents, trucks also were stolen from the businesses, loaded with items and abandoned in Massachusetts. Thousands of dollars worth of items were stolen in the three burglaries, according to Perkins.
Deputy police Chief Charles Rumsey said police are following up on a number of leads in the the case with a goal toward identifying and arresting those responsible and recovering the stolen property.
“We’re in hopes it comes to a successful conclusion,” he said.
