AUGUSTA — Visitors to the Maine State Museum on Saturday can take a peek at a new exhibit of Maine domestic life from 1880-1960 now under construction. They’ll also get in free if they contribute a piece of firewood for the display.

“We’ve had a lot of snow this winter and a lot of stormy weather,” said museum Chief Educator Joanna Torow of the event entitled “One For the Wood Heap.”

“For people who want to shake off the winter blues and come by for a fun day, there is a new exhibit and a lot of fun things to do,” she said.

The new permanent exhibit will open Nov. 22.
