Investigation into infant death continues

An investigation continues tonight into the death of a four-month-old boy from Harrison.

Zachary Henderson was found in a home at 12 Mill St. around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He lived with his mother, 43-year-old Pamela Henderson, and her 17-year-old daughter.

Deputy Attorney General William Stokes, head of the criminal division, said state police detectives are investigating the circumstances of the death and the background of the family.

“We investigate these as potentially suspicious,” Stokes said. “The police are going to continue with their interviews.”

Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Marguerite Dewitt conducted an autopsy Thursday on Zachary Henderson. Dewitt did not rule on the cause or manner of death.

“She told me she wanted to do some more work on it,” Stokes said. He could not say when the determinations would be made.

State Police Lt. Brian McDonough said detectives were in Harrison all day, inspecting the home and conducting interviews.

Pamela Henderson was distraught and sought medical treatment on Thursday at Bridgton Hospital, McDonough said. He declined to say what Henderson sought treatment for. Detectives have interviewed the mother, and will talk with her again if necessary, McDonough said.

Pamela Henderson sold a house last year near Crystal Lake in Harrison, and moved her family into the downtown area. She rented a portion of a farmhouse owned by David Card, according to town records. Card, reached by telephone, declined comment on Thursday.

McDonough said Zachary Henderson’s father, who did not live with Pamela Henderson, was notified of the death on Wednesday night.
