A Portland man is serving a 20-year sentence for distributing crack cocaine and marijuana, along with a six year sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon.
Ryan Butterworth, 28, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 71 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm which prosecutors say was used during a Buxton home invasion in 2006. Butterworth had already been convicted of felony drug trafficking and was not allowed to possess a gun, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Butterworth is serving 20 years for drug trafficking, a 2007 conviction and sentence that was upheld by a federal appeals court in December.
Butterworth used a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver during the attack on the home April 26, 2006, firing several shots at the time.
The gun and drug sentences will run concurrently.
