PITTSFIELD — Firefighters fought a stubborn fire Friday morning at Hancock Lumber in the Industrial Park.
Crews from several towns used a ladder truck and other equipment to fight the fire, which appeared to be located in a system of pipes that moves byproducts of the milling process. The plant is heated by a boiler fired by wood byproducts.
The blaze, which was reported before 9 a.m., did little visible damage to the building but firefighters remained on the buildings roof battling hotspots mid morning.
There were no reports of injuries to either employees or firefighters.
