Health care careers get boost

By Dennis Hoey Portland Press Herald Staff Writer March 11, 2008 05:03 PM

The United States Department of Labor announced today it has awarded nearly $1.9 million for a project to develop health care careers in southern and central Maine.

The Portland Career Center and Coastal Counties Workforce Inc. of Brunswick will use the community-based job training grant to work in conjunction with a number of colleges and hospitals in southern and central Maine.

Those institutions will provide greater educational and training opportunities for entry level health care workers, career changers and incumbent workers.
