AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has named 20 businesses and organizations that are leading efforts to reduce global warming pollution.
Each has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 10 percent or more through energy efficiency, conservation or renewable technologies, the DEP said. The businesses and organizations are being recognized today at the “Governor’s Carbon Challenge Networking and Expo Forum” in Augusta.
The leaders named by DEP include Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Washboard Eco-Laundry in Portland, Hannaford Bros. Co. in Scarborough, Oakhurst Dairy in Portland, Wright-Ryan Construction in Portland, National Semiconductor in South Portland, Poland Spring Bottling in Hollis, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Berwick and Bath Iron Works in Bath.
