Workers laid off by Westpoint Home, Inc., in Biddeford will receive trade adjustment assistance, the U.S. Department of Labor announced today.
“The department’s action means that the workers laid off in Biddeford are eligible immediately for a variety of benefits and reemployment services available under the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988,” said Rep. Tom Allen. “This decision is critical because it means the workers not only may qualify for a trade adjustment allowance once their unemployment benefits run out, but also that they can take advantage of training, job search and relocation assistance."
