BANGOR - A prosecutor told a jury that a 34-year-old Bangor man kicked another man so violently that he fractured his skull a dozen times and "pulverized" his rib cage.

Peter Tuller is charged with murdering 47-year-old Michael Demmons of Carmel on June 25, 2006.

In opening arguments Monday, Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson said Tuller kicked Demmons repeatedly and then hog-tied him with an extension cord and placed plastic bags over his head.

The attack took place at Tuller's ex-girlfriend's apartment, where Demmons was living that summer.

The trial is expected to last three days.
