Troopers promote child abuse prevention

By Kennebec Journal Staff report March 24, 2008 03:00 PM

AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troopers will be at the Statehouse Tuesday as part of the fifth annual Blue Ribbon Relay to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Maine.

Gov. John Baldacci and some of his top level staff will attend the 1:30 p.m. event in the Hall of Flags to declare April Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“The Maine Children’s Trust and the Child Abuse Prevention Councils of Maine are cosponsoring the relay to bring awareness that child abuse and neglect is preventable and to honor the programs that work to support families in our communities,” Jan Clarkin, executive director of the Maine Children’s Trust, said in a prepared statement.
