LITCHFIELD — A smoldering blaze destroyed a modular home on Elm Lane Monday afternoon, displacing the family that lives in it and likely killing the residents’ three dogs and four cats.
The fire leveled much of the structure and charred the remains beyond repair.
Firefighters from Litchfield, Bowdoin and Sabattus responded to the blaze, which was first reported at about 2:40 p.m. The fire was under control before 4 p.m.
No one was at home when the fire began, said Seth Stevens, 19, who lives at the home with his parents, his sister, and a niece and nephew.
