AUGUSTA — The House of Representatives today passed a bill to prohibit smoking in cars when children under 16 are present.
The measure, which faces additional votes in the House and Senate, puts in place a one-year period of time when police can issue warnings only. After that, violators can face a $50 fine.
The bill passed the House with bipartisan support.
