SKOWHEGAN — Plans to retrofit the former middle school on Willow Street into a hotel have officially fallen through.
After the roof collapsed Feb.17 under the weight of snow, the owners determined there is no way to salvage the building and have begun demolition, according to Town Manager Philip M. Tarr .
“The building is coming down because it is structurally unsound and it would be prohibitive to rebuild it,” Tarr told selectmen Tuesday night.
Plans to turn the building into the Old School Hotel are now out of the question, he said. The Kruse family members who moved here specifically to build the project are now reconsidering all their options, Tarr said.
