Repeat drunk driver gets eight years

By Portland Press Herald Staff Report March 26, 2008 01:08 PM

A drunk driver who was still on probation for causing the death of a man in 1997 was sentenced to eight years in prison today in Cumberland County Superior Court.

Tracey Camic, 37, of Brunswick pleaded guilty to aggravated drunk driving and violating probation. Justice Roland Cole ordered her to serve two years for driving drunk in December and the full six years of her probation for violating the conditions of that probation.

Camic, who went by the name Tracey Lambert in 1997, was convicted of manslaughter in the death of William Comeau, a 25-year-old killed when the car he was in and Camic’s car collided in Dedham.

Camic was arrested by Brunswick police in December after driving erratically. A breath test showed her blood-alcohol content was three times the legal limit to drive.

Comeau’s family appeared in court today and called for strong penalties for Camic’s latest charge.
