Gorham police are investigating anti-Semitic drawings found on the walls of Gorham High School over the past couple of weeks.
The police got involved last week and are still early in the investigation, said Police Chief Ronald Shepard. The police department's school resource officer, the school principal and the Attorney General's office are all looking into the incidents, he said.
"We're still trying to determine, was this a hate crime or was it just some kids doing something foolish and not really realizing what the consequences were," Shepard said.
Drawings were found over the course of several days, and this week, one drawing was found on the door of a Jewish teacher. "Whether or not it was an intentional picking on this person or someone thinking 'I'll just put it there and not realize the consequences,' we'll look into it," Shepard said.
