NORRIDGEWOCK — An early-morning fire destroyed a home Friday at 69 Airport Road, Fire Chief Dave Jones said.

Jones said that Lawrence Knowles, who lived alone in the home, was not there when the fire struck. Crews were called to the scene at 3:26 a.m., and spent the next five hours putting the fire out and cleaning up, Jones said.

An official from the state Fire Marshal's Office could not determine the cause of the fire Friday morning, Jones said.

Until he can find a permanent home, Knowles will stay with his father, Tom Knowles, who lives nearby, Jones said.
