SKOWHEGAN — Somerset County Emergency Management Director Robert Higgins is looking for a few good men and women to serve on emergency response teams.

Community Emergency Response Teams, or CERT teams, serve a number of functions during emergencies, said Higgins.

Volunteers may help open and operate shelters, direct traffic or even assist in animal response and rescue.

The county has a number of different teams including a county team that could serve a variety of different functions and another team that specializes in emergency shelter management.

Anyone interested in serving on a CERT team is encouraged to call the Somerset County Emergency Management Agency at 474–6788, and speak to Amy Cunningham, special project officer for the agency.
