HALLOWELL — In celebration of Earth Day, the Kennebec Valley Art Association has scheduled a presentation on the history of the Kennebec Land Trust by Jym St. Pierre on April 22, said association Executive Director Deborah Fahy.
“In the spring of 1988 a group of citizens from Kennebec County came together to form a conservation trust to work with landowners and communities to protect the natural features, working landscapes and fragile ecosystems of our region,” Fahy said.
For 20 years the Kennebec Land Trust has been helping to preserve parts of the landscape as a balance to development, she said.
St. Pierre was founding president of the Kennebec Land Trust, Fahy said, a lifelong Maine conservationist and award-winning photographer.
St. Pierre’s presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the association's Harlow Gallery at 160 Water St., Hallowell, Fahy said.
