Two Fryeburg men arrested in kidnapping

By The Associated Press wire report April 03, 2008 11:46 AM

Two men are under arrest in New Hampshire in connection with a kidnapping in Maine.

Police say the male kidnap victim was recovered and is safe. He has not been identified, and few details about the case have been released, but police say they arrested Luke Clough and Richard Smith, both in their late teens or early 20s, on fugitive warrants from Fryeburg.

The two were scheduled in court on Thursday. Fryeburg Police Chief Wayne Brooking says the two are charged in Maine with kidnapping, elevated aggravated assault and robbery. Brooking says he can't comment further because other suspects were involved and additional charges may be pending.

Police from at least six agencies in both states raided a Madison, N.H., condominium Wednesday, arresting the two and confiscating a gun, marijuana plants and other potential drug paraphernalia.
