Hundreds of Maine students have gathered at Cony High School to compete in the state Odyssey of the Mind tournament.
Students from kindergarten through grade 12 are separated into teams to design a performance and product that solves a complex hypothetical problem presented to them.
The students are judged on their product and performance, as well as their ability to “hone their skills of spontaneous creativity,” according to a release from Maine Adventures in Creativity, a nonprofit that has sponsored the annual event since 2000.
The two top teams in each event will be given a nod to compete at the World Finals in Maryland.
