PORTLAND — The city's planning department will hold two public meetings next week to present plans to create a historic district along downtown Congress Street.

The meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at One Longfellow Square and at noon April 18 in the Rines Room at the main branch of the Portland Public Library.

The district would stretch from Deering Avenue to Franklin Arterial. For more information and a map of the proposed district, call Deborah Andrews at 874-8726 or Scott Hanson at 756-8023.
