AUGUSTA--The Central Maine Power Co. will offer a free energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulb to 1,000 customers who contribute to Maine's Renewable Resource Fund before June 1.
The fund was established by the Maine Legislature in 2000, and is supported by private contributions, including donations from electric utility customers.
Proceeds support universities and communities that research and develop new ways to produce electricity from renewable sources like wind, water, sun, wood, fuel cells, and geothermal sources
A brochure and contribution form will be included with the April bills for CMP customers. Contributions to Maine's Renewable Resource Fund are completely voluntary and tax deductible. Customers can also make a donation on-line at the CMP Web site.
