Kennebec Democrats hear candidates

By Kennebec Journal Staff report April 10, 2008 12:19 PM

AUGUSTA — The Kennebec County Democratic Committee is scheduled to host U.S. Senate candidate Tom Ledue and Dr. Steven Meister, candidate for Maine’s 1st Congressional District April 17.

The party meeting is scheduled to be held at Augusta's city hall beginning at 7 p.m. City Hall, said county Democratic Chairwoman Rita Moran.

“Both Ledue and Meister will be present to introduce themselves to county voters and answer questions about their positions on Iraq, the economy, then environment, healthcare and other issues important to Mainers,” Moran said.
Neither candidate had declared their intention to run for office when the KCDC held candidate nights and debates in 2007, she explained.

Also on the agenda for the meeting will be a discussion of the platform of the Maine Democratic Party, Moran said.

KCDC meetings are held every third Thursday of the month at Augusta city hall or Waterville’s City Council Chambers. The business portion of the meeting begins at 6:30 pm; refreshments and program begin at 7 p.m., Moran said. All registered Democrats in Kennebec County are encouraged to attend.
