NEWPORT— A Newport man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening family members with a putty knife.
Aaron Engstrom, 40, of Newport, was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon as well as resisting arrest and burglary, said Chief Leonard Macdaid of the Newport Police.
Engstrom was reportedly wielding the putty knife when he kicked down the door to a Highland Avenue home around 3:13 p.m.
Once inside, Engstrom was confronted by his father and brother, one of whom reportedly grabbed a baseball bat in defense, Macdaid said.
Lt. Randy Wing, who responded to the home after the fight was reported, had to wrestle Engstrom to the ground to place him under arrest, Macdaid said.
Engstrom had been released from Penobscot County Jail by Monday morning.
