WELLS — The supervisor of the transfer station in Wells was found dead Sunday in one of the facility's buildings.

Police say his death has been ruled a suicide.

A police officer discovered the body of Mike Pauk, 57, of Wells, at 12:40 p.m. after his vehicle was spotted at the transfer station. Pauk's girlfriend had reported him missing Saturday evening.

An audit of the Wells transfer station earlier this month revealed a number of administrative problems that town officials say are being addressed with more accounting supervision.

Town Manager Jane Duncan said there is no evidence that problems at the transfer station involved criminal activity.

The former public works director in Scarborough is filling in as the supervisor in Wells.
