SKOWHEGAN — Brandon Towers, a 14-year-old from Skowhegan who was wedged beneath his bicycle and a car Tuesday night, is recovering, police said Wednesday.
“There were no internal injuries and no visible broken bones,” said Skowhegan Deputy Police Chief Rick Bonneau.
Towers and a sports utility vehicle driven by Janet Wheeler, 36, of Skowhegan, collided in front of George’s Banana Stand on North Avenue Tuesday night.
Using the fire department’s extrication tool, rescue workers spent just 12 minutes lifting the vehicle from the bicycle frame, according to Firefighter Linwood Corson. He said the teen’s leg was jammed between the road and the frame of the bicycle, with the vehicle on top of the bicycle.
