WATERVILLE - Firefighters from at least three towns are battling a brush fire that is spreading between Quarry Road and Upper Main Street.

Firefighters are accessing the area from Country Way and Haley Way off Upper Main Street where Waterville School Superintendent Eric Haley lives.

The fire, reported around 4 p.m., is in an area owned by Colby College that formerly was an alpine ski slope. The city plans to buy the property as part of a land swap and use it for recreational purposes.
