With their selection late in the second round of Saturday night's NFL draft, the Patriots have taken cornerback Terrence Wheatley of Colorado.
At 5-foot-9, 187 pounds, Wheatley will be towered over by some NFL receivers but will try to make up for that with his physical play.
He also returned kicks at Colorado and played through the pain of several wrist injuries, including a dislocation of the right wrist.
New England's selection of Wheatley gives it two defensive players in the first two rounds. In the first round, the Pats took outside linebacker Jerod Mayo, a 6-1, 242-pounder out of Tennessee.
