Robert Baldacci has formed a new real estate development, investing and consulting company in Portland.
The company, Baldacci Group, will be headquartered at 130 Middle St.
Baldacci, the brother of Gov. John Baldacci, D-Maine, had been vice president of Ocean Properties, managing hotel acquisitions and expansions and condo developments.
Ocean Properties late last year lost its bid to redevelop the Maine State Pier. The Portland City Council instead chose Olympia Cos. for the $100 million project.
Baldacci said his new company has experience in residential, commercial and timeshare resorts locally, nationally and in Ireland.
Prior to joining Ocean Properties, Baldacci was a consultant on technology commercialization, business development and research and development. He was also managing director of Pierce Atwood Consulting of Portland; chairman of the Finance Authority of Maine; and an adjunct professor at the University of Maine.
He has also served on the Board of Visitors for the University of Maine, the Community Housing of Maine board and was president of the Economic Development Council of Maine and the Bangor Region Development Alliance.
