AUGUSTA -- First lady Karen Baldacci will be presented with a “Champion for Children” award on Thursday for her work on behalf of Maine’s young children.

The Maine State Employees Association will present Baldacci with the award at Lots of Tots Child Care in Princeton, Maine. The union is presenting the award in honor of Worthy Wage Day.

Baldacci will visit the day care to talk about the importance of quality child care to the state economy and in the healthy development of young children, according to the union.
