Mainer allegedly stole funds from paper

CONCORD, N.H. - A former accountant at the Concord Monitor is accused of stealing as much as $150,000 from the newspaper over four years.

Forty-five-year-old Lisa Grass, who now lives in Lambert Lake, Maine, was indicted six months ago, but the indictment said only that she was charged with stealing more than $1,000.

The higher figure is in a police report that recently was made public in correspondence between lawyers. The report says Grass was the first to report the theft — but did so knowing Monitor officials suspected her and were about to call the police themselves.
