WATERBORO - Investigators say a medical problem may explain why a motorist blacked out on Route 202 in Waterboro, causing her car to plow into the front of a Gorham Savings Bank branch.
The York County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Glena Waterhouse of Waterboro, crossed Route 5, struck a utility pole and crossed a lawn and embankment before hitting the bank.
Waterhouse was not injured in the crash, which occurred at around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the bank is closed Monday. The damage to the utility pole knocked out the control unit for traffic lights, prompting officials to erect stop signs until the lights can be repaired.
