A Sebago man who allegedly incited his pit bull to attack a sheriff’s deputy pleaded innocent to the charges Wednesday.
Ricky Norton, 48, was charged with assault on an officer, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm when prohibited, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned Wednesday in Cumberland County Superior Court.
In March, Norton commanded his dog to attack a deputy who was serving a protection-from-abuse order, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
The deputy was protected by a bulletproof vest when the dog lunged at his chest, but the dog attacked his legs. The deputy received stitches for the leg injury.
