By Portland Press Herald Staff Report May 07, 2008 03:33 PM

A York County grand jury today indicted a Texas man accused of shooting his girlfriend and leaving her on the side of a Saco road last Sunday.

Geoffrey Reese was indicted on four felony counts - attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a felon - according to District Attorney Mark Lawrence.

An arraignment date has not yet been set, according to Lawrence.

Reese remains in custody at York County jail on $1 million bail.

Reese, 26, is charged with allegedly shooting Tanya Y. Garza, 32, leaving her on the side of the road, and then returning to their Old Orchard Beach motel room to discard of her belongings, according to police and court documents.

Garza was shot twice in the torso and was being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She is still listed in critical condition.

The two, who had been at the motel since January, are from the same community in Texas, near Houston.

Reese has served time for aggravated robbery, possession of a gun by a felon, and drug possession, according to Texas records.
