Police investigating weekend crash

By Kennebec Journal Staff report May 11, 2008 12:59 PM

GARDINER — Police are investigating a vehicle accident this weekend that sent one person the hospital.

The accident, which happened either Friday night or early Saturday morning, involved a vehicle crashing into a bridge on Route 126, a Department of Public Safety dispatcher said.

The LifeFlight air ambulance was called to air lift at least one person to a hospital in Lewiston.

No other details, including how many people were involved, the victims' names and the extent of their injuries were immediately released, though DPS confirmed the accident happened on the bridge.

“All I know is LifeFlight was called and there was serious personal injury involved,” the dispatcher said.

The Gardiner Police Department responded to the accident. An officer who answered the phone Sunday said no information could be released until Monday.
