The body of a Biddeford man missing for almost a month was recovered this afternoon from the Saco River.

Keith O'Brien, 41, had been missing since the evening of April 16. He had been with a friend on a railroad bridge over the river, according to Saco Detective Sgt. David Loranger.

Construction workers in the area spotted the body caught on the Spring Island Dam, Loranger said. Saco fire officials were able to remove it at about 1 p.m. and officials positively identified it as O'Brien, Loranger said.

The state Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy, he added.

The Warden Service had searched for O'Brien by boat and by air for days after his disappearance.

According to police, he had been with a friend, reportedly drinking, on the bridge on Main Street in Biddeford until about 7:30 p.m., when his friend left. He wasn't seen again after that.
