AVON — An Archies Inc. garbage truck traveling south on Route 4 hit the shoulder of the road and landed on its side, spilling debris across both lanes of traffic on Monday afternoon.
The driver, Matthew Walton, 26, of Mexico, received minor injuries.
Maine State Trooper Matthew Casavant said Walton was traveling south from Rangeley with a load of construction debris, headed to Norridgewock, when he hit the soft shoulder and lost control of the truck.
Casavant said the accident occurred just north of the Mt. Blue Pond Road.
Both lanes of traffic were closed while DOT took care of the debris and made minor patches to the road’s surface, he said.
