AUGUSTA — A 76-year-old Lewiston man was found guilty this afternoon of sexually abusing a young girl over a period of several years.

Eusebe J. Gallant was convicted by a jury in Kennebec County Superior Court of five counts of unlawful sexual contact.

He originally was charged with nine counts of the same charge.

The offenses occurred between 1997 and 2004 in Litchfield.

Justice Nancy Mills presided over the one-day trial and ordered Gallant held without bail. A sentencing hearing will be set later.
