MILLINOCKET - Maine hikers are going to have wait a while longer to climb the state's tallest mountain.

All trails to the top of Mount Katahdin remain closed along with several campgrounds in the southern part of Baxter State Park as crews work to clean up from the heavy winter snows and recent rains. Other campgrounds are opening on schedule on Thursday.

Park director Jensen Bissell says those with reservations at one of the closed campgrounds will be offered an alternative site, if available, or a reservation for another date.
