OAKLAND -- Oakland police on Wednesday recovered about $60,000 worth of tools that had been stolen from various construction sites in recent months.
Officers arrested Barron Tibbetts, 28, of 108 Water St., Oakland, on three counts of felony burglary and three counts of felony theft.
Tibbetts had allegedly gone around to Oakland construction sites late at night in a pickup truck and pried his way into buildings and trailers to steal the goods, according to Oakland Police Captain Rick Stubbert.
"The investigation began when we became aware of photographs of the stolen tools that he was going to post on eBay to sell the tools," Stubbert said.
Officers executed a search warrant and found high-end power tools, industrial staging, hand tools, chop saws and more in Tibbetts' apartment and in a locked shed on his property, Stubbert said.
Contractors quickly claimed their tools.
