WINSLOW — Johnny’s Selected Seeds will receive the prestigious 2008 Entrepreneurial Success Award Friday at an awards ceremony hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Maine District Office.

The event, held each year to celebrate small business success in Maine, will be held at the Ramada Conference Center in Lewiston.

Rob Johnston of Johnny’s is scheduled to accept the award.

“He’s a national winner — we had two national winners from Maine this year,” Patricia Kinney Knowles, economic development specialist with the Business Administration, said Thursday. “We were ecstatic.”

Other accolades to be handed out include the 2008 Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Award, to John and Brandon Ready, owners of Ready Seafood/Catch a Piece of Maine, of Portland; and Small business Person of the Year, to be given to Ford Reiche, president of Safe Handling, Inc., of Auburn.
