SOUTH PORTLAND — Expect lane closures and delays on Western Avenue starting Friday when crews pave the now-widened road, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Traffic might be halted for brief periods as the intersection of Western Avenue and Foden Road is paved. The paving work – which extends between Maine Mall and Gorham roads – is expected to continue daily through May 21, except on Sunday.
