By Kennebec Journal Staff report May 19, 2008 07:43 PM

Sophomore Forrest Chadwick pitched a complete game and collected three hits to lead Gardiner to a 7-6 win over Maranacook in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Monday.

Gardiner scored four runs in the first inning off Maranacook starter Travis Harwood, but the senior settled down after that.
The host Black Bears nearly tied the game in the bottom of the seventh but Gardiner center fielder Donnie Cray threw Mike Brennan out at home trying to score on a base hit. Brennan, Ryan Martin and Mike Rankin each had three hits for Maranacook (7-2) while Wheelock singled and tripled for Gardiner (8-1).
