Autofest 2008 set for Sunday

Autofest 2008, an all-vehicle show and shine, is planned for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, rain or shine, at Flying Pond Variety, Route 41, Mount Vernon.

Check in is 8-11 a.m. and prizes will be awarded after 2 p.m. Participants must register before 11 a.m. to be eligible for trophies. The cost of registration for a car and driver and one passenger is $5.

Classes included in the show are: 4x4 pickups; 2-wheel-drive pickups; pre-1960 pickups/commercial; special interest; best of 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and beyond; antiques; model A; classics; street rods; sports and foreign; ‘Vette; street machines; remote control; vehicles; and Mopar.

Two single-trophy classes also included: best engine and best paint.

Food and beverages will be available, as well as contests, games and giveaways. No dogs are allowed. The cost is $2 per person and free for children younger than 12. This event is presented by the Flying Pond Broadcasting Corp., which will provide music from the 1950s, '60s and '70s throughout the day.
