Traffic was moving at a normal pace again on Monday afternoon after a camper that caught fire disrupted southbound traffic on the Maine Turnpike for nearly two hours.
John Coniaris, spokesman for the Maine Turnpike Authority, said the fire broke out around 10:40 a.m. before spreading to nearby woods.
Turnpike officials encouraged drivers to use Route 1 after they shut down the southbound lanes. The highway reopened at 12:45 p.m.
Scarborough crews responded to the fire. Firefighters said no one was seriously injured. Additional details about the driver of the camper were not available.
