WATERVILLE — A 20–year–old Waterville man was arrested on charges of domestic assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon Tuesday night after police responded to a noise complaint.
Police arrived at a Ticonic Street address at about 11 p.m. and found an apparently intoxicated Edgar Souder on a porch with his girlfriend.
Souder and the woman said they had argued but both told police there had been no physical assault, said Waterville Deputy Police Chief Charles Rumsey.
Witnesses, however, told Officers Tristan Russell and Brian Gardiner that Souder had grabbed the woman and pushed her and had also brandished a knife, swinging it at people who tried to intervene, according to reports.
Souder was arrested and taken to Kennebec County Jail. Bail was set at $1,000.
